Plan A: Tickets
Today in class we discussed our possible collections. We decided that we were going to collect different ticket stubs from different people. Sporting events, movies, concerts, plays, amusement parks, etc. are all the types of tickets we will collect. From here we will categorize the tickets from place, time, price, why they went, who they went with and how they liked it. This will then tell us the type of personality they have and what they are mainly into.
We need to think about who our subject is going to be. Whether or not we are going to focus on just one person's personality based on the tickets we get, or focus on the group of tickets as a whole. It all depends on the amount of tickets we receive.
**We decided that we are going to focus mainly on movie tickets, that way it will be easier to categorize one type of ticket rather than a bunch of different event tickets. This way it will be less confusing and more clear to what our point is.
We still have a lot of different categories to sort out the movie tickets. As we collect them we will be able to figure out what is more popular to people now rather than a few years ago.
Plan B: Store Bags
We would collect a large number of bags from all different types of store and categorize them by the types of store, types of people (wealthy, student, children, thrift shoppers, mother/fathers, elderly), what they may have bought, how much they bought. This would also tell us what their personalities were.
Other ideas:
Recipes, owls, cameras, cards, brochures, shells, magnets, stickers
Here is our mind map!

I think tickets and store bags both tell a lot of different stories. They are both solid ideas but I think I like tickets more. Though store bags have an environmental implication.
ReplyDeleteI think that the tickets is a stronger idea then the plastic bags. So, are you going to be collecting just the tickets you guys have or everyones? If you do everyones then you can find a new way to categorize them with the different places they are from.
ReplyDeleteThe tickets idea is your stronger one. You should try to get lots of tickets from different theaters, from different states maybe if you can find them. And from a range of years too. That would be interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteI think the ticket idea is the the best one. It would give an interesting insight into people's personalities based on what they went to see. It would also be interesting to get tickets from different demographics...teachers, parents etc and not just students
ReplyDeleteTickets is a really sweet ideas. I love how you brought up last time how the movie theatre's ticket price has changed and that will so really interesting to visually represent in a collection.
ReplyDeleteTickets seem like you can really have more of a story and display it properly. There are soooo many different ways you can categorize it generically that Im sure theres plenty of interesting ways to also categorize it.
ReplyDeletetickets. people would love to see a comparison between the past and present or maybe future, ie. using infographics.
